Naples, FL – December 13, 2018 – Pan-Florida Challenge for Hungry Kids Ride Ambassadors are community influencers leading the fight to wipe out childhood hunger in our community. The inaugural class of PFC ride ambassadors announced today are John Ashford, Tara Ehrmann and Sundi Faith.
These enthusiastic cyclists are passionate advocates who will help the Pan-Florida Challenge Ride for Hungry Kids reach more people with the message that our world class cycling event to feed hungry kids is a life-changing event for the cyclists and the hungry children we feed.
PFC created its ride ambassador program this year to help reach enough people to allow us to provide another 1 million meals for hungry kids. We’ve already provided more than 4.2 million meals and changed thousands of lives in communities and schools across Florida.
Our ride ambassadors will reach out to various community groups and networks where they live and work. They also will lead the Pan-Florida Challenge “If I ride, they eat!” social media campaign to help educate the public about the thousands of children living amongst us who struggle with chronic hunger and the lifelong challenges hunger creates.
“Our new ride ambassadors are outstanding PFC cyclists who are terrific representatives of our work feeding hungry local children,” said Ed Mullen, Pan-Florida Challenge’s Founder and Chairman. “These enthusiastic spokespeople are important influencers in their communities.”
John Ashford is an enthusiastic two-time PFC rider and top fundraiser looking to help increase participation in the Pan-Florida Challenge Ride for Hungry Kids. He is an active Kiwanis Club member interested in traveling across Florida to speak to every possible Kiwanis Club along the PFC ride route about the need to feed the state’s one-in-five hungry kids. John works for Hertz where he says he is organizing a team for the 2019 ride. “I will be working hard to turn interest into engagement and engagement into participation,” he said.
Tara Ehrmann is a Sarasota-based PFC alumni rider who is a self-described adventure seeker and Ironman Triathlon finisher. A mother of three, Tara also partners with the Orlando Magic and the Harvest for Hope backpack feeding program. She has witnessed the devastating effects of hunger in students at the school where her children are enrolled.
Alumni PFC rider Sundi Faith also is a triathlete and runner who is an active board member of Naples Velo. Her passion to help others extends to her work with the Naples Shelter for Abused Women and Children’s Planned Giving Committee and the Collier Country Education Foundation’s Finance Committee. Sundi witnessed hungry children in local schools which prompted her desire to want to help feed them.
